In the past few years, Apple has made noteworthy improvements to MacBook Pro models but it has also reduced the number of ports at the same time. The move forces users to invest money in buying dedicated dongles to get the most out of their MacBook Pro units. However, it is likely to change this year as reports are claiming the return of ports.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known and reliable research analyst, has shared his newest research notes predicting that Apple will launch 2021 MacBook Pro models with an HDMI port and a card reader. This will surely improve user productivity and will also help new buyers save money by not spending on additional peripherals.
Apple is rumored to be working on 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models for late 2021. Both of these are said to feature a major redesign as compared to predecessors. It will have flat and squared corners which is something Apple also offers in the latest generation iPhone and iPad models. It seems like the company wants to keep a uniform design language across all products.
One of the biggest changes will be the return of the MagSafe charging connector. This is not surprising as even the newest iPhone 12 lineup supports MagSafe wireless chargers and other accessories. Apple is further said to have decided to ditch Touch Bar with the upcoming models and will offer traditional functional keys instead. The display panel on the new models is reported to offer more brightness and contrast than predecessors.
