Microsoft is preparing for an event scheduled for next week where it plans to reveal what is next for Windows. As we all were waiting for the same, someone seems to have leaked the entire Windows 11 build. The yet-to-be-released operating system is available for download and installation.
The alleged Windows 11 build reveals that the design elements are borrowed from the now-canceled Windows 10X. It was an operating system meant for specific kinds of devices but Microsoft later decided to bring its features to the masses. The upcoming build is not entirely different from Windows 10 but there are noticeable changes for sure.
The first thing that you will notice is that Windows 11 Task Bar has app/software icons placed in the center like a dock. The Start icon has been changed and it is also present in the center along with a Search icon. But if you want to back to the currently-used left-hand side approach, you can go back to that as well. The new Start menu focuses on app icons and does not have Live Tiles as you can see in the current public version. It further shows suggestions and quick access to restarting/shutting down the machine.
Another major difference between the two operating systems is the usage of rounded corners. These can be noticed in different places like the Start menu, dialog boxes, context menus, and File Explorer. It seems like Microsoft is bringing back widgets to Windows which were quite popular, especially among Windows 7 users. There are new snap controls to help you with the quick placement of windows with just one click. It also has a set of new default wallpapers.
Windows 11 features deep integration with the official Xbox app. This will result in faster access to the Xbox Store, Xbox's social media elements, and Xbox Game Pass contents. The Windows 11 setup experience is said to be similar to Windows 10X and thus quite different from Windows 10. There is a special startup sound said to get triggered after every boot.
This is everything that we know about Windows 11 so far. The leaked version is most likely to be an early build of the operating system. It means Microsoft should have things to talk about at the event that we do not know about yet. In the meantime, if more details surface, we will make sure to keep you posted.
