Apple is widely rumored to be working on the next generation of MacBooks that will be significantly different than previous ones. There have been whispers of it incorporating Mini-LED display panels starting with MacBook Pro later this year. A new research note from Ming-Chi Kuo claims that MacBook Air will also get Mini-LED display treatment but next year.
Kuo says that the 13-inch MacBook Air model with Mini-LED display will debut in mid-2022. It will specifically have a 13.3-inch display and as speculated, the launch should happen around April or May. Apple is showing a lot of interest in the mini-LED display tech and has already debuted on the 2021 M1 iPad Pro.
The Mini-LED display tech makes use of thousands of small LEDs in the backlight. It results in better contrast and deeper blacks like OLED panels. The best part is that it achieves all those display quality improvements while keeping the laptop profile thinner and lighter. In other words, users get to have the best of both worlds.
The 2022 MacBook Air is further said to have an M2 processor, the next-gen version of the M1 chip Apple debuted last year. It should bring considerable improvements to the overall performance. The design aspect is also expected to undergo an overhaul along with support for MagSafe charging. Lastly, Apple could debut the notebook in a variety of color options as it did with the 2021 iMac release.
