Huawei has announced the global release of the MateBook 16 laptop that it debuted first in China. It is one of the most high-end laptops that you can get from the company. The main highlights include AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and a bezel-less display that offers an immersive experience.
The MateBook 16 sports a 16-inch IPS touchscreen display with 2520 x 1860 pixels with a 3:2 aspect ratio. This is different from the typically used 16:9 aspect ratio and will be beneficial for productivity-related tasks. The panel further offers a peak brightness of 300 nits, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, 100% sRGB color gamut, and HDR support.
Under the hood, the buyers can choose from either hexa-core Ryzen 5 5600H or octa-core Ryzen 7 5800H processor. These come with integrated Vega graphics. The configuration options include 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 51GB of NVMe SSD storage. The connectivity options include two USB Type-C ports, two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.1, and WiFi 6. The 720p webcam is integrated into the keyboard to keep the bezels slim.
The laptop features a fingerprint scanner but it is the power button that doubles up as the biometric authentication. The battery capacity is 84Wh and it comes bundled with a 135W USB Type-C adaptor. Huawei has priced the MateBook 16 at EUR 1,099 for the Ryzen 5 model and at EUR 1,199 for the Ryzen 7 model.
