Apple has announced its second hardware event of fall for next week. The special event is teased as "Unleashed" and will take place on October 18th. It will be a virtual event because of the pandemic restrictions. As has been the case so far, Apple is keeping mum about what it has to announce but there are a few speculations around what to expect.
The consensus is that we will get to see new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The last month's event was about debuting the iPhone 13 lineup, iPad 9th Gen, iPad Mini, and Apple Watch Series 7. There have been plenty of rumors about what would be new with the next-gen MacBook Pro but the common theme is the debut of the Apple M1X chipset.
The M1X is tipped to be an upgraded version of the M1 processor that debuted last year. It is Apple's custom-developed processor and the next step in the direction of completely moving away from Intel chips. It is believed that M1X features 10-cores as compared to the octa-core architecture on the predecessor. The graphics cores are expected to be 16 or 32 which is another significant jump from M1's seven or eight cores.
Other than this, there is a slight possibility that Apple might even release new AirPods. The currently sold AirPods 2 were launched in 2019 which means a successor is long overdue. The Unleased event is just five days away which means we will not have to wait long to know exactly what Apple has in store for us. Interestingly enough, Google's Pixel 6 launch event is just a day after i.e. on October 19th.
