OnePlus usually releases its new flagship device towards the end of the second quarter and it seems like this will be no different in 2018 as the CEO and founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau has confirmed this for us. However, what still remains a mystery is the name and model number of the device. Will the company continue with its existing trend and name it the OnePlus 6? Only time will tell as we edge closer and closer to its release. Well, this isn’t the only announcement as the next OnePlus announcement at CES 2018 was making public its plan of becoming more mainstream by tying up with U.S carriers.
Here’s what Pete Lau said in an interview:
If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment.
This was said with regard to the company’s plans of extending its market to the U.S as well. However, finer details were not given regarding the matter. A deal with a U.S carrier could really help OnePlus gain a foothold by solidifying its presence in more markets. The existing popularity of OnePlus isn’t to be undermined as the OnePlus 5T was one of the fastest selling devices of 2017.
It appears that OnePlus isn’t the only company attempting to secure the support of a U.S carrier as Huawei attempted the same with its Mate 10 Pro. Having the support of a U.S carrier is extremely important since most U.S customers purchase their devices through carriers.
The CEO and founder of OnePlus didn’t reveal any details regarding its upcoming flagship device apart from the fact that it would use the Snapdragon 845 chip. However, this is something which we already speculated and even expected. Pete Lau concluded by saying that:
The only thing we can do now is to keep a humble approach.
It seems like 2018 could be a very crucial year for OnePlus with the release of its new flagship device and its plans of gaining the support of U.S carriers. What do you think of this? Let us know by leaving a comment in the section below!
