Oppo secures a semi-circular selfie camera module patent

31 May 2019 3

If there is any one way to beat the top contenders in the smartphone market is by investing more into research and development and that is exactly what the Chinese smartphone companies are doing right now including Huawei and Oppo. Oppo recently patents a new way to conceal smartphone camera punch hole. And now in the latest development, the fast-rising Chinese smartphone manufacturer has secured yet another patent suggesting a new way to implement front-facing smartphone camera.

Earlier, Oppo Find X offered a slider mechanism that hosted both the front and rear facing cameras though the latest patent similar to this offers a completely bezel-less experience through the rotating pop-up selfie camera. The patent was filed with United States Patent and Trademark Office where the patent shows a phone offering edge to edge display where the selfie camera hides in the semi-circular housing which gets rotated to show up the camera when required.

The patent that was filed back in 2018 doesn’t mention if the semi-circular housing would host a LED light as well. Currently, it's unsure as to when we might see this in Oppo smartphone or if at all. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section below.

The Oppo Find X isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
