Spotify working on 'Import your music' and save podcasts for later | Report

03 December 2018 1

Spotify is currently the market leader in the music streaming space when it comes to the most number of paid as well as overall users globally. But to make sure that it gets more users and existing ones keep using the app, it needs to keep improving the app. In the same direction, it has been spotted working on two new features named Import your music and Saved for Later.

Both these under testing features have been spotted by Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) who is well-known for discovering hidden features in different apps and services. Starting with the first feature Import your music, it allows Android users to import their locally stored music to the Spotify app. The best part is that it works natively from the smartphone app itself and thus eliminates the need of using the desktop version. Previously, a user had to transfer his locally stored music to the desktop app and then move it to the smartphone which was not user-friendly.

This new feature will surely be appreciated by many Spotify users as not all kinds of songs, albums, and artists are available on the service. It results in users relying on multiple apps to listen to their preferred music. With this change, they will be able to use both Spotify music and locally stored music from a single place.

Next up, we have the Saved for Later feature which is basically the ability to save podcasts for listening later. This is something which will definitely be appreciated by podcast lovers as it happens quite often that you stumble upon a good podcast but cannot listen to it instantly. In such a situation, it will allow you to save the podcast for listening whenever you would want to.

Both of these new Spotify features are under testing which means it is hard to say when and if they will be made available to everyone. But if they are, we will make sure to keep you updated.
