Redmi Pro 2 renders hint pop-up selfie camera and Snapdragon 855 SoC

04 April 2019 2

Xiaomi kickoff this year with the announcement of Redmi as a new brand. Under the branding, the company launched a number of new phones. All these phones are either mid-range or entry-level offering. The Redmi VP Lu Weibing recently confirmed the arrival of flagship under Redmi branding. He also confirmed the flagship will be running on the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC. However, he stated the device will take a few months before hitting the market.

Today on Weibo an alleged Redmi Pro 2 render leaked online which reveals the device will be running on the Qualcomm's Octa-core Snapdragon 855 chipset and also it will have pop-up selfie camera. Recently the Xiaomi CEO image leaked online holding a phone with bezel-less display, in-display scanner, and pop-up selfie snapper. It could be a new flagship under Redmi branding.

The leaked render hints the Redmi Pro 2 is pretty much in line with the Redmi Note 7. It comes with a gradient finish. Fortunately, it retains the 3.5mm headphone jack when many OEMs are ditching it. The Redmi Note 7 was the company's first phone with 48MP rear snapper, we can expect this trend will continue with the Redmi Pro 2 as well. However, instead of dual rear cameras like the Redmi Note 7, the Redmi Pro 2 has triple rear cameras aligned vertically on the top left corner.

The original Redmi Pro was launched in 2016, its successor was announced in 2017. Now after a gap of one year, we are once again hearing about a new Redmi Pro lineup phone. We can expect more details regarding the Redmi Pro 2 will appear in coming days, Stay tuned.
