Once Huawei unveiled its P series for the year, all attention moved to the upcoming Mate 30 lineup. The future of the series seemed to be under doubt after the U.S. ban but Huawei assured that it will release the phones as usual. And now, a new report has emerged revealing details about the Huawei Mate 30 Lite. It will be the most affordable phone in the lineup and will be released before the standard Mate 30 and premium Mate 30 Pro.
The report claims that the Huawei Mate 30 Lite will sport a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2310 x 1080 pixels) IPS display. It will be a full-screen display with no bezels and no notch. It will have a punch hole in the display panel for housing the selfie camera which is said to be a 24-megapixel sensor. Even though Huawei's sub-brand Honor has been using an in-display camera module for some time now, it will be a first for the parent company itself.
Under the hood, it will come with octa-core HiSilicon Kirn 810 mid-range processor. It is the latest chipset from the company and was unveiled last week. It is based on the 7nm manufacturing process and includes improved Mali-G52 GPU along with dedicated NPU for all the AI-related tasks. It has dual 2.27GHz ARM Cortex-A76 high-performance cores and six 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A55 power efficiency cores. The processor will be paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The back panel will have a quad rear camera module placed inside a square-shaped module. This is the same alignment that we saw with last year's Mate 20 as well. There are no details related to each of the four sensors but we can expect a telephoto lens, a wide-angle lens, and a ToF depth sensor. The phone will also have a physical fingerprint scanner on the back side.
There is said to be a 4,000mAh battery to keep the lights on. It will offer 20W fast charging technology to help users charge their phones quickly. It should be running EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box but nothing is confirmed yet. The report also mentions that Huawei is likely to announce Mate 30 Lite in China under a different name. As for the release, the complete lineup should become official by September or October.
