Over the past weekend, Oppo announced plans to unveil Reno 2 smartphone series at an event on August 28th. It will be succeeding the original Oppo Reno lineup which is only four months old. Now, a new report from MySmartPrice has surfaced detailing what to expect from the upcoming family of smartphones.
The report mentions that there will be three smartphones named Oppo Reno 2, Reno 2Z, and Reno 2F. The first one will be the most expensive variant with premium features. The second one will sit in the middle of the price bracket and the last will be the cheapest offering. All of these will differ in specs and features to justify the price difference.
The Oppo Reno 2 is reported to sport a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint scanner, Corning Gorilla Glass 6, and 20:9 aspect ratio. It will be a full-screen display with no notch and an impressive 93.1% screen-to-body ratio. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor which if true will make it the first smartphone in India with the chipset. There is said to be only one configuration variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage.
One of the Reno 2 highlights will be its quad rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor (116-degree FoV), a 13-megapixel sensor with 5x hybrid zoom, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for background blur shots. There will be different camera features like Ultra Dark Mode, Portrait Mode 2.0, Ultra Steady Videos, 3D Audio Zoom, Real-Time Video Blur (Portrait Videos), and Hybrid Image Stabilization. It will have a 16-megapixel selfie camera with the same Sharkfin module as the Reno lineup.
There will be a 4,000mAh battery to keep the lights on and will be supported by VOOC 3.0 fast charging. On the software side of things, it is reported to run ColorOS 6.0.1 based on Android 9 Pie with a possible Android Q upgrade assurance. The pricing is expected to within the sub-Rs. 35,000 price segment.
Both Oppo Reno 2Z and Reno 2F are reported to feature similar specs as the Reno 2 but with a few differences. The Reno 2Z is said to offer a 6.53-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint scanner and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It will have a MediaTek Helio P90 chipset with the same configuration as the Reno 2. The quad-camera setup is also similar except that it has two 2-megapixel sensors instead of a 13-megapixel sensor. It is expected to cost under Rs. 25,000 for these toned down specifications.
Lastly, the report mentions only one thing about Reno ZF specs which is that it will have a 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor instead of the Sony one. It will cost under Rs. 20,000 making it the most affordable offering in the series.
