Redmi, sub-brand of Xiaomi appears to be having a new smartphone in the works. Well, if a new leak spotted on the leaks aggregating site Slashleaks is to be believed, we can say that this is going to be Redmi 8A with some significant upgrades over its predecessor.
The leak presents the overall look of the alleged Redmi 8A device and shows how the new phone in the series is getting a serious design upgrade. On the front, the device is having a waterdrop-style notch and minimal bezels are surrounding the other sides. There’s a noticeable chin but, at least, the look is better than its predecessor.
One image in the bunch of real-life pictures of the alleged Redmi 8A also reveals some of the key details. For instance, the device is running MIUI 9.7.11 based on Android 9.0 Pie and has 4GB RAM with 64GB onboard storage. The About page also reveals the phone’s codename which is “Olive” and it’s powered by Snapdragon 439 processor.
A screenshot has also been shared in the bunch that shows the device has a massive 5000mAH battery capacity.
The remaining live images of the Redmi 8A device highlight the rear side of the device and there is another big change to notice. The device is having a fingerprint scanner, which is for the first time for Redmi A series phone. Note that no Redmi A phone including the last Redmi 7A had the fingerprint sensor for unlocking purpose.
There are dual cameras placed vertically to each other in a module followed by the fingerprint scanner and Redmi branding as well. The color of the device is Red and it looks quite attractive. Xiaomi brings affordable smartphone under the Redmi A series and this Redmi 8A is going to be no different. And, it’s good to note that the Redmi A series is finally getting the desired upgrades not only in terms of design but also in specifications.
It’s unknown when the Redmi 8A will launch.
