The next Microsoft Surface hardware launch event has been confirmed for October 2nd which is more or less one month away from today. It is expected to announce annual hardware refreshes and maybe one or two new products as well. The main attractions of the show are expected to be Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3, and Surface Book 3. While official details are currently unavailable, speculated specs have emerged in a new leak regarding the first two products.
As one would expect, Microsoft is reported to release Surface Pro 7 with a similar design but internal hardware upgrades. It is expected to arrive in different models with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx and 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake processors. Regardless of the processor choice, all the models are reported to feature native LTE connectivity. This will help users stay connected to the internet without having to look for a stable WiFi connection.
The design is expected to be similar for the most part but could be slightly flattered with slightly thinner edges. Microsoft is further said to remove Thunderbolt 3 port and replace the DisplayPort with USB Type-C port. The Surface Connect port is expected to stay and continue using the PCIe lane.
The Surface Laptop 3 is also said to come with a similar set of changes. It means 10th Gen Intel processors are expected to power the upcoming notebook but no AMD model. It is expected to come with USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports but bid farewell to Surface Connect port. The shape and design are speculated to be same as the predecessor. In what could be a first for the lineup, Microsoft may offer swappable SSD functionality to users.
All of these details are based on speculation with no substantial proof. This is the reason we will suggest you take these with a pinch of salt. The launch event still weeks away and we can expect more leaks and reports to emerge in the time being.
