The Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is reportedly all set to release a new smartphone with a total of six cameras. This is not the first time that we are hearing about a phone with so many cameras but it is the approach that makes it different from the rest. The report mentions that the Vivo V17 Pro will be the world's first smartphone with dual pop-up selfie cameras.
Yes, you read that right. Even though pop-up cameras are yet to become mainstream, we are already seeing a smartphone with two pop-up cameras. These are said to include a 32-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. This should help users click better selfie portrait shots which is one of the popular modes among selfie lovers.
Other than this unique feature, the Vivo V17 Pro is reported to be another mid-range smartphone in the market. It is claimed to sport a 6.44-inch Full HD+ (2440 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with very slim bezels. The display panel will also have an integrated fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, it will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
It will have quad-camera setup on the back panel with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a wide-angle sensor, and two 2-megapixel sensors. It seems like the last two camera sensors will be for depth and macro purposes. It is a vertically aligned camera module with an LED flash sandwiched between two sensors on either side. The whole package is reported to be powered by a 4,100mAh battery.
The details regarding the Vivo V17 Pro pricing and availability are currently unknown. It is expected to become available in Europe in addition to the usual Vivo markets like China and India.
