The Xperia phones take a back seat if you consider some best Android phones of this year. However, their names are not entirely diluted. With a strong determination, Sony is still standing strong and willing to bring more smartphones to the market. A leak has now appeared that talks about Sony’s plans on expanding its smartphones’ portfolio further.
According to the leak, Sony could expand its focus on the flagship segment with a total of four new devices in the coming year alongside at least three more in the midrange market. All the four flagships are said to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 865 processor and may also feature the 5G connectivity. Talking about the reported mid-rangers, these Xperia phones could come powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 735 which is rumored to support the 5G as well.
Not much is known about these speculated Xperia phones from Sony but referring to a couple of already available leaks, we may able to catch a few details of a few of them, at least.
A very early render of an upcoming Sony device appeared with a Hexa-cam arrangement. The name of this device is unknown but now it is fair to believe that this could be one of the anticipated phones from Sony coming in 2020.
It is rumored the device could feature the 48MP primary shooter with a variable f1.2/2.4 lens alongside a secondary 12MP shooter with the same f1.2/2.4 lens combo. The rest of the camera setup includes a 20MP F/2.4 module, 16 MP F/2.4 unit, 8MP F/2.4 shooter and a 0.5MP ToF sensor. Sony mostly launches its flagship phones at IFA, so expect to see it launching at the same event.
Once again referring to early leaks, one more flagship to add to the expected list could be Xperia 3. It is said to be the new member of Sony’s compact Xperia lineup. The device will pair a 21:9 display alongside the Snapdragon 865 processor with an interesting curved back design. The new rumors suggest the phone will come with 5G connectivity and triple-lens camera setup and QHD display resolution.
One more flagship Xperia phone could be the Xperia 1.1, the successor to Xperia 1. The phone could carry a quad-camera setup on the back and a 4K panel. The Xperia 5 is also suspected to get a revised 2020 version called the Xperia 5.1 and it could be slightly more compact version of the bigger Xperia 1.1.
Sony Xperia 10 could also receive Xperia 10.1 as a revised version in 2020. The Xperia 10 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to be updated as the Xperia 9.1 with 5G support.
Note this a leaked information which means it may not be entirely true. So take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for some substantial stuff to come which could help you to rely on.
