Huawei’s nova line of smartphones could become an independent brand if the ongoing speculations are to be considered. There have been rumors but not too frequent and prominent enough to pull our attention that Huawei could make Nova series an independent brand just like it did with Honor. Nothing concrete is available yet that could be taken as a support to proceed further but there are enough hearsays to take a look at the non-existent.
Upon asking Digital Chat Station on Weibo if nova is becoming an independent brand, the reply came that the Nova (smart)watches, wireless headphones, and other smart devices could be on the way. There is no further information like when this could happen but a few noticeable changes in the past can be brought here for a quick reference.
Huawei has made significant changes in the typography of the ‘nova’ logo, which may be the sign of a fresh start. Back in June in a breaking report from Huawei Central, it was noted that Huawei has officially registered a new ‘Nova’ brand account on Weibo, with a parent company as Huawei Devices Co. Ltd. Furthermore, back in September 2018, President of Huawei’s Product Division, He Gang announced that Huawei nova series has already achieved 65M users worldwide. The growth rate suggests there is a need for an independent sub-brand.
One more instance that reflects the possibility is the launch of the Nova mini, a Nova-branded speaker that happened this year.
If this happens, Huawei will have two direct sub-brand, one is Honor and the other Nova.
