OnePlus CEO Pete Lau teases 120Hz display ahead of the big reveal

13 January 2020 0

Ahead of the event where OnePlus would unveil its "2020 Screen Technology," the company’s CEO Pete Lau has teased something related. According to a post on Weibo, Lau has said that the company has "completed the research and development "of the 120Hz display tech.

It is unknown which phone is going to feature this new refresh rate but believing in the obvious, it can be said the OnePlus 8 Pro will debut with this screen feature. Also, OnePlus hasn’t disclosed what its event that is dedicated to "screen technology" will bring to the table but it is evident what it is going to be about. Lau’s addressing the 120Hz display tech ahead of the dedicated event simply reflects the company would elaborate more about the same.

OnePlus introduced a 90Hz refresh rate last year on the OnePlus 7 Pro and later on the OnePlus 7T series as well. The aim was to bring the buttery smooth experience to the users and with the 120Hz refresh rate, OnePlus wants to amp up the overall game. The 90Hz display on the OnePlus 7 Pro has received much appreciation as it has given a new meaning to the display at a somewhat good price than others. Now, imagine what the 120Hz refresh rate would bring to the devices.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 pro has reportedly been spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench. Going by the listing, the OnePlus 8 Pro will run Android 10 out-of-the-box and come with 12GB RAM. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor, which is the latest one in the market.

Let’s just wait for the event to see what the company has planned actually.
