Samsung Galaxy S9 transparent back panel mod

13 March 2018 3

Modding is always fun, but it is definitely a risky business, especially when there’s glass involved. For some, this may be something new but for other, you may be familiar with JerryRigEverything’s popular clear back smartphone mods. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is built well and can withstand quite a bit of torture, so why not make it look even better! The clear back mod involves opening up the device and scraping away the paint on the inside glass of the back panel on the Galaxy S9. This isn’t something which is recommended as it voids the warranty. The results are amazing though, a transparent back Galaxy S9.

To start the procedure, you will need to open up the device with a heat gun and pry tool. You will have to be careful not to damage the wireless charging coil. The battery sticker can be taken off to ensure a clean look. The temperature reading on the wireless charging pad is needed otherwise the phone will refuse to charge with a warning in the form of a pop-up. A little clipping here and there can be done on the plastic, but if you want everything to be functional, you’re going to want to put everything back into place.

Now comes the juicy part, where you remove the paint from the rear glass panel. The paint can be quite easily removed from the glass with a razor blade. While doing this, be extremely careful. All that’s left is to peel off the remaining paint and screw the panel back on. Remember that this is risky, will void your warranty and your device will no longer be water resistant.
