The Samsung Gear S2 is a three-year-old smartwatch which is a time when companies usually stop caring about the products. But as things have turned out, Samsung has surprised us by releasing a big update for the wearable which is loaded with a bunch of big changes. In the official announcement, it said that the update will make the Gear S2 "even more convenient".
All the changes included in the update are about improving user interface elements and enhancing the overall user experience. To start off, the Gear S2 now has a lot cleaner and minimal icons (quick settings panel) and widgets. It even adds a new widget called App Shortcuts which simply adds user's recently used or commonly used apps on the screen for a faster access later. It can also be used for adding apps shortcuts manually.
The next set of changes are related to health-related apps and activities available on Gear S2. It now has a Multi-workout widget which lets you multiple common workouts that you do for a faster tracking. You can also set an Inactivity widget which reminds you to stretch or do any activity if you have been sitting inactive for a while. It even lets you watch your fitness plan on a Smart TV and control the corresponding workout tracking directly from the smartwatch.
Other features added in the update include the ability to control Gear VR content and a powerpoint presentation. It means users can use their Gear S2 wearable for controlling VR objects as well as presentation slides. Lastly, Samsung has made some changes to the weather app with a new weather widget. It will offer more details about the current weather condition and forecast so that users can be well prepared.
The new update is already available for download. If you have a Samsung Gear S2, simply visit the Gear app on your smartphone to get started.
