Galaxy S9 vs Galaxy S8: Speed test comparison between two generations

17 April 2018 4

Samsung Galaxy S9 is the company’s newest flagship coming with Snapdragon 845 processor and Exynos 9180 SoC for some regions. The smartphone has been giving a tough competition to most of the flagships from other companies. But, many of you must be interested in knowing if it’s also able to prevail over its own family member from the past. Well, there are many comparisons available already that allow you to know the performance difference between the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9.

In the league of such comparisons, we are publishing here two videos that show the speed test conducted between them and their Plus variants.

The first speed test comparison between the Galaxy S9+ and the Galaxy S8+ is conducted by the YouTuber Phone Battles. The YouTuber opens several apps first to see which one opens them faster. Galaxy S9+ does show a lead here, but Galaxy S8+ isn’t slow, in fact, you’d only find a split-second difference.

However, when the game was opened, it seemed more optimized on the Galaxy S9+; the game opened quite faster than the Galaxy S8+. Well, the newest processor and an increased RAM in the Galaxy S9+ do provide it an edge over its predecessor when it comes to gaming.

Next up, we have a video from King’s Tech who compares the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S8. The speed test comparison started with the usual bootup test in which Galaxy S9 outraced the Galaxy S8. It should be noted that this comparison includes the Galaxy S8 Exynos 8890 version.

They both are running Android Oreo and have 4GB RAM. The YouTuber then opened several apps to know which one opens them faster over the other. Galaxy S9 powered by Snapdragon 845 was seen taking a lead several times, but not always. But, when it came to gaming, the Galaxy S9 opened them faster. Galaxy S9 opened almost all the games faster than the Exynos 8890 powered Galaxy S8.
