Samsung's new S-Pen features Bluetooth and can be used like a remote control

10 August 2018 2

Samsung's newly launched Galaxy Note 9 comes with an all-new S Pen stylus which is way more useful than any of its previous offerings. During the event, the company talked about various things one could do using the new stylus and now, it is time for official posts detailing all the features and functionalities.

Starting off, the biggest addition to the new S Pen is the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity. It allows the stylus to be connected with the Galaxy Note 9 wirelessly and perform all those amazing actions. There is a physical button which needs to be pressed for triggering the actions which are mostly about remotely controlling. For example, one can click selfies, navigate through presentation slides, and even play/pause YouTube videos.

It is worth noting that Samsung has made a software developer kit available for anyone interested in bringing S Pen integration with their respective app. It is definitely a good thing as it will make S Pen more and more useful for the Galaxy Note 9 users. Other than the above-mentioned cases, S Pen can be used even when using the Samsung DeX mode for better productivity experience.

There is even a special infographic from Samsung detailing all the new S Pen features and other details about the stylus:
