Samsung announces new AKG wireless headphones for music enthusiasts

17 September 2018 3

Samsung has announced three new wireless AKG headphones – Y100, Y500, and N700NC. They are a series of neck buds, on-ear, and over-the-ear headphones. The Y100s and Y500s both feature “Ambient Aware” technology that helps the users hear the surrounding sound.

AKG NC700NC

The third wireless headphone, NC700NC have adaptive noise canceling technology that lets the users listen to their favorite audios without the interruption of the surroundings. It has a 20-hour battery life, though it's unclear if that's with adaptive noise canceling switched on.

AKG Y500

The Y100 has magnetic earbuds and fabric cables similar to the ones used for the AKG-tuned in-ear headphones that come with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S9. The Y500 on-ear headphones can connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time.

Y100

The Y500 can potentially last longer (up to 33 hours) and the Y100 earbuds can last up to eight hours. The AKG Y500 has an “Auto Play /Pause” feature, which pauses content when the headphones are taken off and resumes play automatically.

The price of the Y500 on-ear headphones is $150, the Y100 headphones cost $100, and the N700NC costs $350. These are on sale from Amazon, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Samsung, and AKG.

Something like adaptive noise canceling tech will always be a plus for such accessories. But just look at the headphones. They look so cool  I'm bowled by the looks alone.
