The South Korean giant Samsung is known for their Smartphones, home appliances, OLEDs but gaming notebooks are certainly one department where Samsung lags behind. That doesn't mean Samsung isn't producing gaming machines but it is one area where Samsung yet to find the perfect winning formula.
Today at the CES 2019 the company wraps off the cover from a new Notebook Odyssey. It is not only the so far best gaming machine from Samsung but also it is clear indication the company is looking to expand their presence in the gaming PCs.
Samsung's Odyssey lineup isn't brand new at all but the latest addition is bringing almost everything you can expect from a top-notch gaming machine. One of the best aspects of the new Odyssey Notebook is NVIDIA's RTX 2080 is taking care of graphics. Instead of side hinges, the new Samsung's machine is featuring a central hinge which gives it a distinctive look but also some space for air cooling.
In terms of specs the Odyssey sports a 15.6-inches Full HD display with 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports GSYNC. Under the hood, the Intel's 8th gen Core i7 processor is powering it with up to 16GB RAM. In terms of storage, it features 1TB HDD and 256GB NVMe SSD. It brings a number of connectivity options including 3 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Ethernet, and one USB-C port. It weighs 5.2 pounds which means it won't be as light as new gaming machines from Asus and other companies.
Although the latest Odyssey isn't bringing something special to stand out amongst the crowd it is way better than its predecessor in terms of hardware.
