Samsung Gear S3 and the Gear Sport smartwatches have received a new update which upgrades the version of Tizen to 4.0 and brings many other features as well. Samsung calls it the Value Pack update that enhances the smartwatches with the Galaxy Watch functions. Samsung Health has received a major update and it can now track 39 types of exercises, out of which 20 are indoors.
Also, back-to-back workouts are available to view at a glance immediately after a workout. Furthermore, the sleep notifications you get each morning have been simplified and a Sleep Widget has been added. The latter offers a brief log of the previous night’s sleep and offers more comprehensive sleep data when tapped.
The Value Pack adds two new advanced modes to the Quick Panel – Theater Mode and Goodnight mode. The Theater Mode keeps the watch silent and its screen off when you’re at some meeting or event. The Goodnight Mode mutes all alerts and alarms and any system sounds, plus it also turns off Watch always on and Wake-up gesture.
So, you don’t need to go separately to separate settings as a single mode is doing several things for you in just one tap.
Samsung’s Value Pack update for the Gear S3 and the Gear Sport improves the messaging experience. The watches now support automatic playback for animated images in a message or conversation. You can now see previous messages as well while typing up a response. Also, you can now use 1500+ emojis and the devices will also show the nine most-recently-used emojis.
There’s one Gear S3 only update as well that supports in-call multitasking thus allowing users to navigate away from the call screen.
Furthermore, under the company’s new partnership the devices can now provide a standalone experience. With the new Strava C25K, users can improve their stamina and track their progress using a proven program. And, there's Tidal app as well allowing you to access favorite tracks and playlists.
