Samsung sends foldable display panels to Google and Apple

04 March 2019 4

Mobile industry in 2019 has surfaced foldable smartphones from Korean tech giant Samsung and Huawei, both competing in a new form factor that has brought a pleasant wave of innovation. Samsung is coming up with its foldable smartphone named Galaxy Fold which boasts foldable screen technology from Samsung Display.

Now as part of the latest development, Samsung has sent out foldable display sample to Apple and Google. This might be because Samsung wants these tech giants to consider its foldable display technology whenever in the future they plan to work upon their foldable devices. While there is no surety as to when we could expect a foldable phone from Apple or Google, we could surely expect it somewhere in the future, considering how it could be a trend in the upcoming smartphone industry.

As per the reports, Samsung sent out a 7.2-inch display to Apple and Google, which is 0.1-inch smaller than the 7.3-inch display panel that Samsung used in Galaxy Fold. Considering how Apple already uses foldable panels from Samsung, there could be a chance that it might want to jump on the foldable bandwagon as well.

On the other side, Google is fair competition in the smartphone industry as well through its Google Pixel portfolio and has worked closely with Samsung to develop Android OS that could adjust to foldable displays. Considering how Samsung is far ahead of the competition in developing display technology, it would be benefiting from foldable smartphones industry shift coming up in the future.
