Samsung is reportedly having a new wearable in the pipeline and going by a few leaks, this is going to be the Galaxy Watch Active 2. There have been reports on the existence of this smartwatch and an official-looking render also leaked, but the details were pretty obscure. Now, a new leak is again coming from a tech site dedicated to all things Samsung which now reveals the details on this smartwatch. SamMobile citing its reliable sources convey some key information of the smartwatch.
First, it was reported that Samsung would bring the rotating bezel with the Galaxy Watch Active 2 but according to the new leak, Samsung is using the Touch Bezel instead. So, you would just need to swipe your finger on the smooth bezel to navigate the UI and have an intuitive user experience.
The new report on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 also mentions some minute details including how much weight its two variants would carry. According to what has been reported to the tech site, the (Aluminium) 44mm and 40mm Galaxy Watch Active 2 measure 36g and 31g respectively. They will feature a 1.4-inch and 1.2-inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display respectively with Gorilla Glass DX+ in addition to the back glass. The case will be built to MIL-STD-810G durability standards, thus adding a sturdy reason to buy this smartwatch.
The leak on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 also includes some intricate details, including the fact the watch is going to have Bluetooth 5.0. This means you will experience better connectivity over a good range compared to Bluetooth 4.2. Also, the Bluetooth 5.0 brings along several new functions and it remains to be seen which functions the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is going to get compared to previous Samsung smartwatches. For instance, the Bluetooth 5 adds functionality for connectionless services such as location-relevant navigation of low-energy Bluetooth connections. It also leads to some better IoT use cases, so we believe the Galaxy Watch Active 2 may act as an important device for further connectivity of smart things, but it’s yet to be seen.
Furthermore, the report states next-gen Galaxy Watch Active is powered by Exynos 9110 chip as the Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Watch as well. The Bluetooth and LTE models will both have 4GB internal storage but 768MB and 1.5GB of RAM respectively. The 44mm smartwatch is going to have 340mAH and the 40mm may include the 247mAH battery. And, it has already been rumored that the watch would feature ECG and Fall Detection features.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note series on August 7.
