Samsung has launched a new rugged Android tablet at IFA 2019 event in Berlin. The all-new Galaxy Tab Active Pro is suitable for the workflows where you need to use your device as a rough entity and a common tablet would rather be a too fragile option. This could be any construction site or any harsh environment where delicate tablets may not give you the freedom of rough and tough use.
Being a rugged device, you could expect some features that enhance its endurance and make it more durable. The Galaxy Tab Active Pro includes IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and with a Protective Cover that’s rated to survive drops from up to 1.2 meters high.
Samsung says, “the Galaxy Tab Active Pro has been specifically designed for use in administration, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, construction, commerce or healthcare.” It’s suitable for a variety of purposes like AR views, high-resolution maps, inventory, transport.
The full specifications of the tablet aren’t completely known but it’s official that it supports S Pen and has a 10-inch display. There’s one more key detail about the tablet that it offers DeX support just like the Galaxy Tab S6, which means it offers a full desktop layout on the tablet’s own display. This way you could continue working using keyboard and mouse. The tablet also uses physical buttons below the display.
The press release doesn’t mention the complete specifications by SamMobile and TabletMonkeys report that the tablet is likely having the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 7600mAH battery, and a microSD card reader with a 1920x1200 pixels resolution display.
The price of the Galaxy Active Tab Pro rugged tablet is 599 euros for Wi-Fi only model and the 4G LTE version costs 679 euros. Samsung also guarantees 4 years of software updates. It will go on sale in Germany starting October 1st and it’s unknown when the tablet will be released to other markets.
