Last week, Samsung teased a new foldable smartphone concept at the Samsung Developer Conference last week. This new concept is similar to how flip phones aka clamshell phone design works. And now, it seems like Samsung is all set to unveil the new smartphone featuring the new design concept. China Telecom has shared a teaser on Weibo showing a foldable phone silhouette.
The teaser shows the name Samsung W20 5G confirming that it will be the second smartphone in the Samsung W series. The series made its debut last year with the release of Samsung W2019. It was also a flip phone but with dual AMOLED displays and flagship-level specifications. It was made available only for the Chinese market which is expected to be the case for the successor as well.
Samsung is referring to the device as "foldable" internally but it is likely to be a clamshell phone. Another reason to believe that Samsung W20 5G will not be a truly foldable phone is that the Galaxy Fold is a fairly new device. It does not seem like Samsung will release a second pure foldable phone so soon.
As for the Samsung W20 5G specifications, not many details are unknown for now. It is expected to offer 512GB internal storage which could be one of the different storage options. It is said to arrive in Black and White color variants and that is pretty much what we know about the phone. We will keep you updated as more and more details will become available.
