Galaxy S11 launch tipped for Feb 18, SD865 variant coming to more regions

12 December 2019 0

Even though there have been numerous reports related to Samsung Galaxy S11 specifications and features, the rumor mill has remained silent for the most part regarding the launch date. It has been a couple of months since we last heard any substantial report on the matter and now, a new leak has emerged the corroborates the previous claim.

Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, has tweeted that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S11 family on February 18th, 2020. This is just one week ahead of the date MWC 2020 kicks off in Barcelona. The launch event is tipped to be held in San Francisco, the same place where Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 family earlier this year.

The leak further mentions that Samsung will also launch the rumored clamshell foldable phone at the same event. We do not have much information about this new foldable device except that it is said to cost less than $1,000. The foldable design is expected to be the same as a clamshell phone, like the recently released Motorola RAZR (2019).

Additionally, a separate report has surfaced claiming that Samsung will release the Snapdragon 865 variant of Galaxy S11 series in more regions than before. Samsung has been releasing Snapdragon variants in select markets and Exynos variants in the remaining ones for quite some time. It is said that since it has not been successful in closing the performance gap between the two processors, it has decided to increase the number of markets that will get Snapdragon models next year. Samsung's next-gen flagship processor is Exynos 990 and it is compatible with 5G modem.
