UPDATE (January 13th, 2020):
Samsung has now officially unveiled Galaxy Xcover Pro rugged smartphone in the United States. It has been priced at $499 for the sole 4GB/64GB model. The announcement does not mention any release date or timeline for the smartphone. The reason for the same is that Samsung is still working with Verizon for the launch of the smartphone.

If you are in the market for a rugged smartphone, especially from a globally renowned brand, then Samsung's new launch Galaxy Xcover Pro is worth the consideration. It is the newest member of the Xcover series of rugged phones. It has currently been unveiled quietly in Finland but is also expected to arrive in other markets.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Infinity Display with TFT panel. It has a punch-hole on the top left corner that helps it achieve a 20:9 aspect ratio. It has slim bezels on the sides but you will notice top and bottom bezels very easily. It is IP68 dust and water resistance certified and is also MIL-STD-810G rated for ruggedness.
Under the hood, it has an octa-core Exynos 9611 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage is 64GB but with microSD card support up to 512GB. It has 25-megapixel and 8-megapixel wide-angle dual cameras on the back along with a 13-megapixel front camera.
The whole package is powered by a 4,050mAh battery that should last for about a day. It runs Android 9 Pie out of the box but we can expect it to receive Android 10 upgrade. While it has the usual set of buttons, there are two extra buttons which are programmable as per the need. The power button also doubles up as the fingerprint scanner.
Samsung has priced the Galaxy Xcover Pro at EUR 499 with sales starting January 31st in Finland. We will keep you updated as it will become available in other European markets.
