Samsung's Galaxy Fold sales figures are still vague at around 500,000 units

09 January 2020 0

It seems like Samsung is either having a hard time figuring out correct Galaxy Fold sales numbers or it simply does not want to share accurate data for some reason. After last month's fiasco of one of Samsung top executives quoting wrong sales numbers of 1 million, Samsung CEO DJ Koh has offered a vague range of selling 400,000 to 500,000 Galaxy Fold units.

Koh offered the new sales figures range while talking to reporters on the sidelines of CES 2020. Even though we still do not know an exact number, it safe to say that Galaxy Fold shipments are not even close to hitting the 1 million mark. But Samsung's newly reported numbers are closer to what analysts predicted and thus are likely to be correct this time around.

There is no doubt that these numbers are significantly lower than Samsung's other smartphone lineups but considering it is Galaxy Fold, these are still pretty impressive. It is a foldable phone that costs about $2,000 which are the two major factors responsible for only a handful of users opting for the device. On top of it, there were durability issues that resulted in the launch getting delayed and Samsung had to release a 'fixed' version.

Samsung is now reported to be working on a new foldable phone, likely to be called Galaxy Fold 2, that will have a clamshell folding design. It is expected to be a lot cheaper and cost under $1,000 which should help boost the sales figures. The next Samsung launch event is scheduled for February 11th which is where we can expect the device to go official.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
