Just ahead of the launch event, Samsung has showcased its next foldable phone Galaxy Z Flip in all its glory and that too at one of the most unexpected places i.e. Oscars Academy Awards 2020. It played a 15-seconds long commercial meant to be a teaser for the smartphone as well as the Galaxy Unpacked event but revealed the phone in full detail.
The commercial confirms the majority of the leaks and reports we have talked about Galaxy Z Flip in the past. It shows that the phone will fold and unfold like a flip smartphone. It will have the main display on the inside but there is a tiny pill-shaped display on the outside as well. This secondary display will be used for showing important information like incoming call details. The user will be able to respond to the call from the same display itself.
The commercial goes on to show the camera app interface. One half of the display features all camera app options to choose the preferred mode and settings. The other half shows the viewfinder using which you will be able to see what you are capturing. It will also show a preview of the photo once the shot has been captured. Similarly, it shows the video calling interface on the smartphone.
Samsung just showed off the entire Z Flip during its Oscars ad. Small print says screen crease is normal, heh pic.twitter.com/uBesJ0FonT— nilay patel (@reckless) February 10, 2020
One important thing to note in the commercial is that Samsung has added a text note that says, "You may notice a small crease in the center of the main screen, which is a natural characteristic of the screen.” It means just like the Galaxy Fold, users will get a crease because of repeated folding/unfolding of the Galaxy Z Flip. We are now only a few hours away from the official unveiling where Samsung will also take wraps off the Galaxy S20 series featuring three different models.
