Samsung integrates Google Duo into Galaxy S20 and Z Flip; Live Caption comes to Galaxy S20

12 February 2020 0

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is now official with some interesting features and impressive upgrades. The 5G and AI-powered cameras are two of the main headliners but there is much more beyond them. During the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event, Samsung announced some new features under its partnerships with other big brands like Netflix and Google for the latest devices.

Samsung is putting the Galaxy S20 in the hands of renowned directors to capture bonus content based on the popular Netflix Originals. And, with Google, Samsung is further strengthening its partnership by integrating the Duo deep down into its phones, starting with the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy Z Flip foldable phone. So just like the Google Pixel line, the Duo will now be available in the Contacts, Phone, and Messages apps as part of the deep integration. Users will be able to pick Duo buttons inside these apps for video calling.

The best part of this partnership is, the Google Duo will natively support hardware features of the Galaxy phones, including the wide-angle cameras on the Galaxy S20 series so that you can include more friends into the video. In Galaxy Z Flip, the Duo will support a new UI that splits the in-call view in half to make the most of the phone’s foldable design. Additionally, the 5G support on these phones will elevate the whole video calling experience, thus keeping you more hooked with the app.

Alongside the Duo, Live Caption is also coming to these phones and that’s how Samsung has deepened its partnership with Google even further. The Live Caption feature transcribes and captions the videos in real-time and that too with absolute accuracy. This feature is helpful when the volume of the video you’re playing suddenly goes low due to the surroundings. The captions are thus helpful in such scenarios so that you don’t miss anything.

Live Caption debuted on Android 10 with the Pixel 4 and now Galaxy S20 lineup becomes the first non-Pixel phones to gain this feature.
