Google confirms Galaxy Z Flip's split-screen mode will come to other phones

12 February 2020 0

The Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung's second attempt at making a foldable phone and if initial impressions are anything to go by, it is a good one at that and improves on the first offering i.e. Galaxy Fold. It has different features that make it stand out from the competition and one such feature is Flex Mode which is essentially a split-screen mode.

This mode splits Galaxy Z Flip's huge 6.7-inch display into two halves that can be used as dual displays. It is true that the mode works only with a few select apps that its implementation has been a good one for each of them. For example, a user can watch a YouTube video on the top half and browse through comments on the bottom half. In the case of a Google Duo video call, the upper part shows the video chat and the bottom part has all the video calling options.

Samsung teamed up with Google to develop this new feature which is the reason it is available on widely used Google apps. And now, Google has confirmed to The Verge that the split-screen mode will come to other smartphones. It has not revealed any other details like which phones or OEMs will get it and when it will happen but has said that the expansion will happen "soon".
