Samsung unveils SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit

19 October 2015 0

Samsung SmartThings has announced its Home Monitoring Kit that allows you to monitor, control and secure your home from anywhere via your smartphone. The kit is paired with a SmartThings App that sends out alerts to your smartphone if there is any unexpected movement in your house. The SmartThings app is available for both Android and iOS platfoms.

The Smart Home Monitor feature in the app sends out alerts to your smartphone whenever it detects any unexpected entry or you have left a door or window open in your home. The kit also captures video clips when an unexpected event occurs in your home. You also get a range of compatible cameras, locks, alarms, and more to enhance your smart home.

The SmartThings Kit comes with:

  • a SmartThings Hub that connects smart sensors, lights, locks, cameras, and more
  • two multipurpose sensors that can monitor whether doors, windows, cabinets, or your garage is open or closed.
  • one Motion sensor that tracks all movement in your home
  • a single outlet that can control lights, electronics, and other small appliances

SmartThings already supports 200 third-party gadgets and the company is also offering its own platform to make it easy for developers to add support for their own products.

Samsung is also selling the SmartCam HD Pro along with the Home Monitoring Kit in select stores to give a complete security solution to your home. Online eCommerce retailers Amazon, Sears, Samsung and Best Buy will all be selling the kit through their online channels, and the Home Monitoring Kit will also be available in-store at Best Buy for $249.00.
