After launching in Russia last month, Samsung has decided to launch their latest Gear S3 smartwatches in India on January 10, 2017. The company has started sending out invites for their event that will commence at 6 PM local time. We do expect that Samsung launches both the Classic and the Frontier versions of the smartwatch in the country.
The Samsung Gear S3 models were announced at the IFA Berlin conference last year in September. Both the models are made from metal, and are powered by the Tizen OS v2.3.2 out of the box. Both the versions are IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. Other features include NFC, built-in speaker and GPS. The Gear S3 Frontier sports a SIM card slot unlike the Gear S3 Classic, which means that it can be used for a 3G or 4G connectivity as well.
The Gear S3 sports a 1.3-inch (360 x 360) Super AMOLED Always On display, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The device is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz and 380mAh battery. The Gear S3 has support for wireless charging (WPC inductive), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth v4.2. The sensors on the device include Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light, and Barometer. The device measures 46 x 49 x 12.9mm, and weighs 57 grams and 62 grams for the Classic and the Frontier versions respectively.
