21 April 2017 5

Samsung Pay in India has got a new update. The service now supports Unified Payments Interface (UPI). For those unaware, UPI, or Unified Payments Interface, is a payment system that allows for instant transferring of funds between banks in India. Users just need to use the telephone number registered with their banks in order to activate the service.

Samsung Pay was launched in India last month. At the time of launch, Samsung had announced that the service would soon support India’s UPI payments service as well. And the time has come for that. The service is now live for all Samsung Pay users in the country.

The service supports all major banks in India including Axis Bank, HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Standard Chartered, Citibank, and American Express. Users can also use Samsung Pay by connecting it with their Paytm wallet thus promoting cashless payment solution in the country.

The update weighs in at 84 MB. A notification should pop up on your phone regarding the availability of the update. Simply follow instructions after installing the update to add your UPI accounts.
