Korean tech giant Samsung is investing heavily along with other tech giants into the field of artificial intelligence whereby the company aims to bring products related to AI in the field of self-driving automobiles, robotics, translations in addition to visual and voice recognition technologies. The company recently announced that they are setting up an AI research lab at the University of Montreal, Canada where they would be focusing on creating prime algorithms that could be then used in the mentioned industries in the upcoming 5 to 10 years.
Korean SAIT researchers like the popular and well-established Yoshua Bengio who is an authority in deep learning and the field of AI will be part of the staff at the research center who would be collaborating along with the lab researchers to come up with smart AI-based algorithms.
Samsung previously utilized cadmium-free quantum dot materials that were developed by the institute and are used in QLED TVs from the company. Likewise, Samsung is also known to be working on AI-powered wireless speakers that could be similar to what we have seen from Amazon Echo, Apple HomePod or Google Home, which is codenamed as ‘Vega’ and would be powered by Bixby AI-Assistant that the company released with Galaxy S8 recently.
