Xiaomi Mi A1 received the Android 8.1 (Oreo) update for last month, however, several users complained of an SMS bug that wipes out the entire SMS history after updating. The company immediately pulled back the update. After testing a beta ROM earlier this month, the Chinese smartphone maker has started rolling out a new update for the Mi A1 users which will fix the issue. This update also brings Android security patch for July 2018.
The update comes with the build number OPM1.171019.026.V188.8.131.52.ODHMIFE and has 467MB in size. Users who have updated the phone to Android 8.1 will get a larger 1.15GB update which includes these fixes. The changelog for the update says that it brings bug fixes and optimizes the performance of the smartphone.
Xiaomi is quickly to push out the Android security patch for its Android One smartphone. It is gearing up to launch the second-generation Mi A series smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi A2 later this month which will run Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is a variant of the Mi 6X. Reports suggest that the new device will come with a 5.99-inch full-HD+ display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. It has an 18:9 aspect ratio and no display notch. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with 4GB of RAM and has 32GB/ 64GB/ 128GB storage variants. The phone will come with a vertical dual rear camera setup and a 20 MP selfie camera sensor. It will be backed by a 3010mAh battery.
