Android security patches rolling out to Google Pixel line-up and Essential Phone

The new month brings the new Android security patches for the Pixel line of devices and for those which stay up to date even if their future seems a bit hazy. We are talking about Essential Phone that stays on the top when it comes to getting security patches.

Well moving on, the August Android security update is available for the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, and Pixel XL. The dedicated bulletin for Google’s phones and tablets shows 3 security fixes and 3 functional updates.

The entire lineup is getting some Wi-Fi improvements, while the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL get the sleep mode improvements. Apart from them, there are some usual bug fixes and factory images and OTAs now available as well.

The August 2019 security patch is also available for the Essential Phone but there aren’t any dedicated changes introduced. The phone is just getting the usual patches to keep its users safe from any potential risks.

The Pixel update bulletin that contains details of security vulnerabilities and functional improvements affecting supported Pixel devices mentions there are 15 issues resolved in the August security patch. Vulnerabilities range from Moderate to Critical, with the most severe relating to the media framework.
