17 March 2020
There are several reports circulating on the concerns over the shipments of Apple’s products in 2020, with one even being estimating a decline by 10% of the iPhone shipments. Several analysts have been projecting the outcome and determining the possible loss that the companies may have to go through due to the deadliest Coronavirus disease.
Wuhan, China being the epicenter of the Coronavirus has impacted not only the lives of people but also the productions, manufacturing plants. One of the major companies that got affected is Apple and according to last month’s report, the company has even shut down one factory in the country following the outbreak. Apple itself has said that the outbreak has impacted the retail sector as well.
However, despite the fatal, Apple is expected to launch the much-rumored iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9 in the first half of 2020 only. According to the notable Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone SE 2 is still expected to launch in the first half of this year. Kuo noted this in a research note which specifically, however, talks about the 7P camera.
Kuo indicates that it is unlikely the iPhone SE 2 which is considered as the successor of the iPhone 8 to come with the 7-element plastic (7P) lens. Apple iPhone 8 came with the 6P lens and its successor may not bring this major change.
An excerpt of what is seen by MacRumors inside the research note,
Because Apple expects that the new iPhone SE2 released in 1H20 will not use a 7P lens, it will not help the 7P lens shipment momentum.
The report further reiterates that an update to Apple’s iPad Pro lineup is also expected around March.
In other related news, a new report coming from iPhone-Ticker is corroborating the same. In fact, it has even shared the probable date of the launch event that Apple will hold and launch the iPhone SE 2, together with iPad Pro models. The report cites sources directly related to Apple and says that the event “will take place at the end of March.” Well, this doesn't go inline with a previous tip shared by a top tipster @evleaks on the launch of the iPhone SE 2. He shared that the launch of the iPhone SE 2 could launch in mid-March.
Last year, Apple held its event on March 25 where it launched some new services majorly. Now, the "end of March" could indicate March 31st launch which the report mentions as well. According to the report, the media event could happen on March 31st and the release may happen on April 3.
