OnePlus 8 Pro may finally feature IP68 water resistance rating

19 February 2020 0

With OnePlus 8, the company might be bringing two most-awaited features – the IP68 rating that would officially make the device waterproof and the second is the wireless charging support. OnePlus’ name on the list of joiners with Wireless Power Consortium has already given a big hint that the wireless charging support is finally coming and now we are seemingly learning about one more feature called IP68 rating.

The tipster MaxJmb has shared an image on Twitter which is likely hinting at the waterproof capability of a device. The image shows the outline of the concept of a device and the word “Water" going across. The name of the device is not explicitly mentioned but the concept is believed to be belonging to the OnePlus 8 Pro only.

Note that, the teaser image doesn’t reflect that the IP68 rating is coming to the OnePlus devices, but it does come as a good hint. Previously, OnePlus posted a teaser before the launch of the OnePlus 6, indicating that the waterproof feature is finally coming but it never came.

In the past, OnePlus has claimed that its smartphones can handle water resistance but it is just not picking the IP rating because that would make its devices expensive and the main motto of the company is to balance the price. But having an official rating onboard would not only help OnePlus to boast more about its devices but also allow consumers to rely strongly on them.

It is being assumed that with the OnePlus 8 series, the company is taking a big leap. The phone wouldn’t only possess the usual upgrades but also some advanced features which had never been able to make the cut on its previous generations.

The OnePlus 8 Pro isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
