As we expected, 2020 is becoming the year of 5G smartphones as every major Android brand has at least one 5G phone in its catalog. Most of the announcements so far have been about flagship and premium phones but we have seen mid-range 5G devices as well. The newest phone to join the later's club is the Vivo Z6 5G that has just been announced in China.
The Vivo Z6 5G features a punch-hole IPS LCD display that is 6.57-inches in size with Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It boasts a 90.74% screen-to-body ratio and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Since it is a mid-range 5G smartphone, it comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor paired with 6GB and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It has 128GB of onboard storage with support for microSD cards.
The phone has a total of four cameras on the back:
- 48-megapixel main camera with f/1.79 aperture
- 8-megapixel ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture
- 2-megapixel macro camera with f/2.4 aperture
- 2-megapixel depth camera with f/2.4 aperture
The selfie camera on the phone is a 16-megapixel sensor with a f/2.48 aperture. Some of the camera features include Super Night Scene 2.0, RAW format support, 4K video recording, and Hyper HDR. All of these features have started to become a common occurrence in Vivo smartphones.
It has a 5,000mAh battery to keep the lights on that can be charged quickly with the help of 44W SuperFlash Charge. It is claimed to offer 70% and 100% of charging within only 35 and 65 minutes respectively. It will run Android 10 layered with Vivo's custom UI Funtouch OS 10 out of the box.
The Vivo Z6 5G has been priced at CNY 2,298 (about $327) for 6GB/128GB and CNY 2,598 (about $370) for 8GB/128GB variants. Both options will go on preorders starting February 29th i.e. tomorrow with sales starting March 8th. As part of a special offer, Vivo is offering a free pair of XE900 earphones to all the buyers who will preorder the smartphone.
