Vivo APEX 2020 with in-screen camera, gimbal-stabilization camera introduced

28 February 2020 0

Vivo APEX 2020 concept phone, the most-talked-about device which isn’t coming commercially to the market has finally gone official or call it a mere intangible introduction. Vivo APEX 2020 is the new entrant to the company’s APEX line of concept phones and it has some interesting features to woo you from a distance.

Before the official introduction, the company shared many details on the device through posters and more. The major reveal happened when an official banner was spotted on the pillars of the canceled MWC venue. So, while a couple of features of the Vivo APEX 2020 made an early appearance, many were still under the wrap and made us more curious to know more about it.

The in-screen camera is one such aspect of the device that didn’t really make an appearance earlier but it’s a tentpole feature here. The concept phone is not going to be available commercially in the hands of the user but the good thing is the company has carved its name in the pages of history already and it will always be remembered even if this tech goes mainstream.

The APEX 2020 follows the legacy and inherits the portless and buttonless feature of the last year’s concept. So, the device has no notch, no display cutout, no pop-up camera, no ports, and no buttons at all. It features 120° FullView Edgeless Display and has a unibody design with an ultra-curved screen.

Having no cutout whatsoever means the device makes use of over-the-air tech for the transfer of the files.

Another head-turning feature is the 60W wireless charging which takes only one minute to charge each 100mAH of battery, which means a 2,000mAh cell can be recharged from zero to full in just 20 minutes. One more aristocrat feature of the APEX 2020 is a gimbal-stabilizing main camera system on the rear and Vivo claims, this is 200% more effective than the traditional OIS that is now the staple of every flagship phone. The gimbal-stabilization will help in recording super-smooth video, thus it could prove to be a very good companion for vloggers, if only it’s coming.

Another highlight is the 5x-7.5x optical zoom which means the device can achieve 7.5x zoom without any loss of image quality.

We can’t comment on its availability without seeing the physical proof of its existence. But Vivo has made a great attempt at making such a device even possible. Let’s see what comes next.
