It has been over 2 years since Apple acquired Shazam and despite that, the popular music recognition app was missing one important functionality. It is the ability to integrate the Apple Music account with Shazam on Android devices. The reason is unknown but the good thing is that the situation has finally changed.
As reported by Android Police, Apple Music integration is available with Shazam's Android app version 10.19.0-200221. The update is available on the Google Play Store and is free to download. Once you have downloaded the app, simply visit the Settings section on the updated Shazam application.
Under the Streaming section, you will find a new Apple Music option just above the existing Spotify application. It should be noted that the integration is currently available in the beta stage. Tapping on the "Connect" button will take you to the Apple Music application installed on your device. In case you don't have the app, it will take you to the Play Store. Either way, it is compulsory to have the app on your smartphone as well as the subscription of the service.
While Spotify and Apple Music integration is available, there is a slight difference in the actual functionality. Apple Music integration currently allows only playing the full song within the Shazam app. It does not let you add songs to your playlists as it happens with Spotify. Since the feature is currently in beta, we may expect things to change in the future.
