Facebook has released a new Messenger application for iOS that has been built from the ground up. The new app is claimed to be way faster, lighter, and smaller than previous versions. The aim of the completely refreshed app is to make it more convenient and quicker for users to stay connected with their family and friends.
The all-new Messenger iOS app is said to be one-fourth of the last version which is a significant improvement. It said that the app used to have 1.7 million lines of codes but the newer version has only 360,000 lines. This has resulted in the application becoming a lot smaller that will eventually lead to faster downloading as well as data saving.
In terms of app launch and performance, the new app is twice as fast as the predecessor. This is something that will be appreciated by those who converse on Messenger fairly frequently. It will also offer a smoother user experience on low-end devices where huge apps tend to lag or even crash.
Lastly, the Messenger app's user interface has been simplified with the goal of delivering streamlined user experience. There used to be 40 versions of contacts list which have now been replaced with a single unified list for all the users. The updated Messenger iOS app has started to roll out around the world. It should become available on your particular device sooner than later.
