Wireless charging solutions are slowly gearing up to make an impact on the tech market which is highly dominated by wired solutions. Smartphone manufacturers are gradually picking up their interest in this latest tech and adding support to their phones as well. The wireless charging solutions are considered as the slower medium of charging a device compared to wired ones but with time this is becoming a myth and one day they are likely to become the mainstream feature as well for hassle-free service.
Xiaomi has taken another leap in the wireless charging tech by building a 40W charging solution that has the potential to charge a phone with a 4,000mAH battery in just 40 minutes. Xiaomi’s Vice President Chang Cheng posted a demo video of this tech on Weibo, showcasing how fast this wireless solution is charging a device. The video also highlights that in just 18 minutes, the device was able to charge up to 50%. It is also noted that the wireless charger will come with vertical air-cooler to keep the temperature in check.
A Xiaomi representative told Android Authority that the charger is still under development. The representatives also confirmed to the tech site that it tested the solution on a Mi 10 Pro device, but stressed that the charger was still under development.
Note that Xiaomi has already unveiled a 30W wireless charging solution during Mi 9 Pro 5G launch. The Mi 10 Pro supports this new tech alongside the 50W wired fast-charging tech.
It is expected that once the new 40W wireless charger goes official, it will bring a tough competition between its new tech and Oppo’s 30W wireless fast charging technology. Note that Xiaomi also has 100W Super Charge Turbo wired fast charging technology with itself. This tech can charge a device with a 4,000mAH battery in a mere 17 minutes.
