Vivo has launched the NEX 3S 5G as its first Android flagship of the year. It may look like a direct successor to last year's NEX 3 5G but is essentially a slight improvement. There are only a few minor differences in terms of hardware specifications between the two devices.
The major difference is the use of processor as NEX 3S 5G is the first Snapdragon 865-powered smartphone by Vivo. It is the newest flagship chipset that Qualcomm has to offer and supports both SA and NSA 5G bands. It is paired with 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and common 256GB UFS 3.1 onboard storage.
It sports a 6.89-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with HDR10+ support. It is a waterfall display which means you will see display spread across side frames. This results in a full bezel-less display experience with an impressive 99.6% screen-to-body ratio. There is no punch-hole or notch as the phone features a pop-up selfie camera setup. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner instead of the traditional one.
The triple rear camera setup features a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera with up to 2x optical zoom. The front camera is a 16-megapixel sensor that pops out whenever used. The smartphone is backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 44W fast charging. It will run Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 10 out of the box.
Other noteworthy features include 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi 6 support, and AK4377A Hi-Fi DAC for premium audio output. The Vivo NEX 3S 5G is priced at CNY 4,998 (about $720) for 8GB/256GB and CNY 5,298 (about $760) for 12GB/256GB configuration variants. Vivo is yet to announce availability details for the smartphone.
