Apple's A-series of processors have always been known for being one of the best and most powerful chipsets. They get better and better with each generation and now, Apple A14 is said to be the first ARM chipset to surpass 3.0GHz clock speed. The report is coming from an online publication Research Snipers that spotted a listing on the Geekbench benchmark website.
It claims that the alleged processor is Apple A14 that will make its debut with the iPhone 12 series later this year. It will be developed by TSMC using the 5nm manufacturing process. It shows that the processor clocked 3.1GHz which makes 400MHz faster than A13 chipset (2.7GHz) available with iPhone 11 family.
A higher frequency means that the processor is able to perform better and get higher benchmark scores. Geekbench 5 listing shows that Apple A14 managed to reach 1,658 and 4,612 in single-core and multi-core tests. This is significantly higher than A13 scores which are 1,329 and 3,468 respectively.
Interestingly enough, the benchmark performance suggests that the upcoming iPhone 12 performance will be even higher than the iPad Pro. It should be noted that we are talking about the theoretical benchmark performance gap. The actual difference between the performances of the two devices will become evident only after real-world usage.
