Microsoft has announced its decision to close all stores around the world due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The decision has come into effect immediately with no words on when it will re-open. It has followed the footsteps of other brands like Apple and Nike in shutting down physical stores to reduce public gathering possibilities.
The announcement was made via a tweet from the official Microsoft Store account. It tweeted, "For the safety of our customers and employees, we are closing all global Microsoft Store locations, effective immediately." The decision is applicable to all stores regardless of the region or country.
This is not the first such decision to be taken by Microsoft due to Coronavirus concerns. It was one of the first tech brands to announce work from home for his employees. It has canceled annual developer conference Microsoft Build that was set to be held in the coming months. It is further reported to hold an online-only Office event on March 30th.
Lastly, Microsoft Bing has released a web-based COVID-19 tracker to help users keep a tab on Coronavirus cases in any particular country. It shows updated data along with the latest news and videos about the pandemic.
